Apparently, during the filming of this scene, the ailing Pete Postlethwaite (who was featured in the In Memoriam segment at the Academy Awards tonight) told Cillian Murphy between takes, “I’m on my way out.” This was something few people knew at the time—Cillian broke down upon hearing this. Robert Fischer’s crying onscreen is actually Cillian crying in real life.
